Plant medicine is a complex and interdisciplinary area that offers solutions to pests that greatly affect the success of crop production. As colleagues of the Department of Plant Pathology, we believe that responsible professionals capable of independent professional thinking are needed.Thus, our students are equipped with the basics of virology, bacteriology, mycology and herbology, as well as a system-based modern knowledge that will enable them to be successful in both practical plant protection and in the career of researchers. We pay special attention to talent management, and our students can also participate in our current national and international projects. The Genomical research group carries out basic research which help to get to know the pathogens better and to develop the diagnostic methods used to detect them. Thus, they can create the basis for the development of new control strategies. Main topic of the group's research is the high-throughput sequencing of small RNAs, which revolutionized virus diagnostics.
