The overall mission of the Department is to conduct in-depth research on pests of horticultural crops and offer theoretical and practical education in agricultural entomology and pest management. Our research focuses on several key areas of entomology: taxonomy of insect and mite groups of economic importance, ecology of vegetable, fruit, grapevine, and ornamental pests and their natural enemies, ecology of arthropod communities in horticultural crop systems, development of environmentally friendly methods for pest management. We provide a distinguished education and research training for students pursuing a BSc or MSc degree in Horticultural Engineering or MSc or PhD degree in Plant Protection. Our Department has multiple research facilities, which are used by staff, PhD students and final year project students. We wish to create an attractive working environment for staff and students to share expertise and generate and test new and innovative ideas.
