Since 1st February 2021, the establishment of the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences (MATE), the former three traditional  training places  of  plant protection higher education (Gödöllő, Budapest, Keszthely) continue to operate in the  Plant Protection Institute of MATE. The Institute of Plant Protection trains the largest number of plant doctors and plant protection engineers with outstanding professional knowledge at MSc and PhD levels  for the Hungarian agricultural sector (fruit, grape, vegetable and ornamental plant production) as well as arable crop production. Our plant doctor training is unique throughout Europe.  The diploma in plant protection  provides graduates with a secure livelihood and their successful activity is a guarantee of the realization of environmentally friendly plant protection. In the last decade, the master's degree in plant medicine has been one of the most preferred MSc courses by students studying in agricultural higher education.   The diploma of plant doctor is also a licence which allows the holder to use plant protection products of category I and to manage plant protection work responsibly. The job opportunities for graduates are good, regarding all plants growing and horticultural businesses and companies distributing input materials need a management specialist with a high level of understanding of plant protection.
